Physical + Digital, the poll

I’ve been tinkering around with some ideas regarding the salability of physical media lately, and have formed some hypotheses that I’d love if you could help me test. Just fill out the simple poll below.

Not an e-book convert yet. Maybe that'll change after the Adam. Something about a dog-eared book that passes around carries a story within itself. Newspapers…well, two words: Google News. The rest, absolutely.

I tend to agree with you guys. However the numbers seem to show that we're in the minority – most people didn't check any of them.

It could mean a couple of things (I'll save that for a bigger post here), but I have to say I'm very surprised by the results. I would have thought this would be a more attractive option.

To add a bit more data, the only one of these I -have- actually purchased that game with a digital equivalent was a BluRay / DVD / downloadable combo pack. I think I've bought two of those (“Up,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox”)

Ah, you bring up an interesting caveat to my original question: is it different if you purchase at a store rather than online.

I'd posit that online purchases, since they have a lag for shipping, might perform differently against this question than items purchased in a store, where you can instantly take it home and download it.

There's also the caveat that not all items are available this way at all. CDs, DVDs, and other digital physical media are quite easy to convert into portable digital formats. Items like books and magazines are not, and in many cases are not available in a digital format at all.
