everybody loves animals, especially my animals

My pets in HD from mike fabio on Vimeo.

What can I say?  I have lots of pets, and I love ‘em.  OK, well, Mingus is the only one that’s mine (he’s the big fat one), but the other dogs and cats are lovable as well.  So long as they keep their urine off my carpet.

Click through for the HD version, recorded on the Canon HF-10 we just got at work.

My Bloody Valentine @ Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Oct 2 2008

IMG_5070
I really could not have written a much better review than the one that appeared in WIRED. This show was, by far, the loudest concert I have ever seen in my life. Ever.

Don’t believe me? Ask the concertgoers:

“I feel like someone landed a fucking 747 in my ear,” she explained.
“I feel like my brain was put into a blender,” I countered.
“I’m not sure I ever want to see another concert again,” she continued.

Many more photos over at my Flickr stream.

Hollywood studios sue to stop distribution of DVD-copying software – Los Angeles Times

Are you kidding me? RealNetworks? No, really, seriously, I simply cannot understand the logic here. Let’s leave alone the simple fact that suing someone for creating/distributing/selling a technology that enables the copying of any form of information is, at best, retarded; may as well sue Gutenberg for inventing the printing press.

Here’s the thing that kills me. RealNetworks? Has anybody used RealPlayer in the last five years? I certainly haven’t. A company who has teetered on the brink of existence due to the simple fact that they created a faulty, spyware-ridden software platform for media streaming that hasn’t kept up with consumer requirements on quality and performance. Yes, that RealNetworks.

Excuse my snarkiness, but if this RealDVD program creates copies that are even remotely as bad as anything I’ve ever watched in RealMedia, then the movie companies shouldn’t be suing, they should be laughing.

BTW, DVD ripping/copying technology has existed for years. The only reason Real is getting sued is that they have money to pay out.

Also, buried in the RealDVD site is this little gem:
